Chaga (Inonotus obliquus), known as the king of mushrooms is an ancient superfood that grows on birch trees throughout northern Boreal Forests. Often mistaken for a burl or knot with a hard, black exterior that appears charred or burnt, the inside is rich orange and cork like in texture. Unlike traditional mushrooms, Chaga can be 15-25 years old when harvested.
